About CSSRA

The Colorado Social Science Research Academy (CSSRA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Colorado, United States, dedicated to advancing social science research, promoting ethical research practices, and fostering the global exchange of knowledge.

Founded in 2023, CSSRA was established to address a growing need for accessible, high-quality research ethics infrastructure and scholarly publishing opportunities—particularly for independent researchers, early-career academics, and scholars in regions where such resources remain limited.

What We Do

CSSRA serves the global research community through two core functions:

We operate an Institutional Review Board (IRB) registered with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP Registration: IORG0012641, IRB00014949). Our IRB provides independent ethics review for social science, education, and behavioral research in full compliance with U.S. federal regulations (45 CFR Part 46). We work with researchers across North America, Asia, and beyond to ensure their studies meet internationally recognized ethical standards—supporting both the integrity of their research and the protection of human participants.

We also publish the International Journal of Social Science and Applied Technology (IJSSAT, Online ISSN: 3068-2673), a peer-reviewed, open-access journal registered with the U.S. Library of Congress. IJSSAT provides a platform for interdisciplinary scholarship spanning sociology, education, psychology, economics, public policy, and related fields, welcoming contributions from researchers worldwide.

How We Are Organized

CSSRA is led by Secretary General Dr. Cyrus Syun Tong and Operations Officer Dr. Xuan Tang, supported by a Board of Directors responsible for strategic oversight and governance. Our IRB operates as an independent body composed of qualified reviewers with expertise in research ethics, social sciences, and community perspectives. IJSSAT is guided by an international Editorial Board with members from universities across multiple countries and disciplines.

Our Commitment

We believe that rigorous, ethical research has the power to inform better policies, strengthen communities, and improve lives. CSSRA is committed to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions)—by making research ethics services and academic publishing more accessible to those who need them most.

We actively seek collaboration with international organizations, academic institutions, and civil society partners to expand the reach and impact of social science research. CSSRA is a registered organization on the United Nations Partner Portal and is pursuing consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
